Kids are back in school today for the first time since mid December. Thank Heavens I live in an amazing area with fabulous public schools. 5 weeks is much too long for winter break! This year round thing takes some getting used to.
Thank you Miss McManus, Mrs Evans and Mrs Tutor. You are both amazing and we are so blessed by all of your efforts.

Smart, Funny, Wonderful!!!
I am so crazy in love with this kid!
I met with Cole's teachers yesterday for an IEP. This is where we go through all the details of his learning and individual goals... And I have GREAT NEWS... and some NOT SO GREAT NEWS.
First the not so great news... my little boy who the doctors said would possibly never have any cognitive recognition, or even be able to sit up on his own, is so smart and advanced that he NO LONGER QUALIFIES for the SDC program! This means that he is not techinially considered severe enough special needs to require a special day class setting. He is ready to transfer into traditional general education! This is FANTASTIC!!! So I guess it really is GREAT NEWS, but aaack! I have 60 days to find a new pre school program for him! They are considering him as a "peer" for their class. This means he might be able to continue with his current class, but as a peer, not a special ed kid.
A few updates:
Cole is no longer "bullying"! This is really good. He is not nearly the "fighter" he was the past year. WHEW!!! It was like he was constantly defending "his turf".
Cole is great at debating his point. His teacher ADORES him. She loves all the things in his little personality that makes mommy crazy. Somehow she thinks it is brilliant when he debates with her the rules, routine, and plans for the group. She loves how he can negotiate like a pro. It makes mommy crazy, but Miss Martha says it is something that is exceptional for a kid his age.
He is very bored with the preschool curriculum. He is into kindergarten learning, and is definitely ready to progress.
I am so lucky to be this brilliant, funny kid's mom. He is a joy to have in my life!!

My Mathamatician!

Brighton was awarded the Student of the Month for MATH!!! He was so proud!!! Bill and I were thrilled with how hard he is working, and how excited he was to get this special award. What a terrific kid!
